Our Troop
We are a Scouts BSA Troop based in Monticello, IL and chartered by our local Lions Club. We are registered in the Prairie Fire District of the Prairielands Council. Our troop was formed in April of 1990, hence our name, Troop 490.
We meet each Monday night from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Monticello United Methodist Church, located at
2020 E. Washington Street
Monticello, IL.
Scouts ages 11-18 work together to plan their meetings, activities, and advancement under the guidance and supervision of adult leaders. We also participate in service projects throughout the year such as hanging the flags on the square, yard clean ups, proper flag disposal, helping with our Lions Club fish fries. These practices help reinforce the overall Aims of Scouting which are character development, leadership development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.
Since the inclusion of girls into the Scouts BSA program in 2019, we welcome ALL YOUTH who want to come learn about leadership, citizenship, outdoor skills, and scouting fun. Scouting is fun for all! Check us out today!
